Sood to become South MCD Standing Committee chairperson

Leader of the Delhi BJP’s youth wing and former DUSU president Ashish Sood is all set to become the South MCD Standing Committee’s chairperson. On Friday, Sood was unanimously elected as member in the Standing Committee in a meeting of the House.

Delhi BJP general secretary Sood is a councilor from Janakpuri west and chairman of the South MCD’s education committee. As the BJP has a majority in the Standing Committee, his election as its chairman is considered certain. The BJP has five members in nine-member Standing Committee, which may increase after new members are elected from four zones.

Sood started his career as a student leader and was elected the president of Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) in 1988-89. He has previously served as the Delhi BJP’s vice-president, general secretary and various posts in the BJP’s youth wing BJYM.
