Sonipat shocker: 14-yr-old gangraped and murdered

In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl who was returning home with her brother after watching Dussehra celebrations, was brutally murdered after being gang-raped by five youths and a juvenile in the Kundli area adjoining the New Delhi-Haryana border in Sonipat on Thursday night.

“The culprits buried the girl after murdering her. All the accused have confessed raping the girl after abduction,” said Dheeraj Kumar in-charge of Kundali police station. “The body has been recovered at the instance of the accused and sent to Sonipat district hospital for post- mortem,” he added. 

Four of the accused, namely Parveen, Nitin, Deepak and Karan of Kundali area have been arrested while Sandeep, who belongs to Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, is still at large, Kundali Police Station in-charge Dheeraj Kumar said.

According to police, the girl was kidnapped while returning home after attending Dussehra celebrations in the Narela area of Delhi. 

“She was on a cycle. The accused, who were drunk and on-board an auto rickshaw, attacked her family members and forcibly bundled her into the auto. The victim’s mother tried to chase the auto-rickshaw in vain,” he added. 

The men took the girl to a secluded place where they raped her. Meanwhile, the girl’s relative had called the police and provided the details of the kidnapping.

Police said one of the accused, Parveen Kumar, who was the first to be arrested, had confessed his involvement in the crime and had accompanied the police when they went to recover the girl’s body. He also pointed out the spot where the girl 

was raped.

The police have arrested three others – Nitin, Deepak and Karan – besides Parveen, in connection with the crime. One of the accused is a minor, and the others are all auto-rickshaw drivers. Further investigations are on, police said.
