Sonia Gandhi lays projects worth Rs 365 cr in Rae Bareli

Though Gandhi did not give a speech in any of the functions during the day but interacted with the local people.

Gandhi, first inaugurated 12 roads constructed under the PMGRY at Saraimughla village under Rahi block and laid the foundation stone for other 45 roads. The project will cost around Rs 80 crore.

Later she laid the foundation stone for RO plants at 110 villages with an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore. The groundwater in these villages are arsenic-infected. Thereafter Gandhi, the chairperson of the UPA, inaugurated the FM Radio station at Puranpur village under Amawav block.

On the occasion, Gandhi’s message was broadcasted and the local artists gave their performance. The FM radio station would be of 20 kilowatt and people of eight adjoining districts covering around 100 kilometres can hear the programme.

Later, she  inaugurated 13 branches of the United Bank of India (UBI) at Patwara village.
The Congress president  concluded her programme by  laying the  foundation stone for Rae Bareli-Maharajganj- Akbarganj track of 47 kilometres at Maharajganj. The new railway track will connect Rae Bareli with Lucknow -Sultanpur rail route. Railways would spent around Rs 256 crore for laying the new broad gauge track.
