Sonam at Cannes, Kalki skips

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor will walk the red carpet at the 65th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival, which is starting on 16 May.

Sonam, brand ambassador of a cosmetic company, will represent the company at the fest for the second consecutive year, reports a statement.

‘The Cannes film festival is the oldest and most prestigious film festival where the best in cinema gets showcased. I am excited to be at the closing ceremony where the best films will get awarded,’ said Sonam. The 26-year-old will walk the red carpet at the closing ceremony on 27 May.

On the other hand, while filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is all geared up to attend the festival, actress wife Kalki Koechlin won’t be accompanying him but is hopeful that one day she would attend the gala.

‘I won’t be able to attend Cannes festival as I will be busy shooting for my film. I have been begging my director to give me sometime off, but that’s not happening. But doesn’t matter, one day I would go to Cannes with one of my films,’ Kalki said.

The actress has begun shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Ek Thi Dayan with Konkona Sen Sharma and Emraan Hashmi.

Kashyap is ecstatic after three of his films have been selected for the 12-day festival to be held in the French Riviera. Peddlers, produced by Guneet Monga of Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt Ltd, will be showcased alongside both parts of Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur.
