Son kills mom in rage

A 40-year-old man allegedly murdered his elderly mother by hitting her with an axe at their house in Kanjhawla in outer Delhi on Sunday evening.
The victim, 64-year-old Satbati, and her son Fateh had been living in the Ladpur in Kanjhawla. Satbati’s husband had died earlier and her two other sons live separately with their families.
Fateh, who is unemployed and alcoholic, would often ask for money from her and his addiction to alcohol resulted in frequent quarrels between the mother and son.
‘On Sunday evening again an argument broke out between the two when he demanded that his mother give him some money. The victim refused and the argument heated up with Fateh even hurling abuses at his mother,’ said the police. Satbati, however, was unmoved by her son’s demand.
In fit of rage, the accused picked up an axe and hit his mother twice on her head. As Satbati started screaming, her brother rushed into the room. ‘He found Satbati lying in a pool of blood and Fateh trying to escape,’ said a police officer.
Fateh was overpowered by his uncle and other relatives. Satbati was rushed to the nearby hospital where she was declared bought dead. The accused was arrested.
