Solomon Islands hit by massive earthquake

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake jolted the Solomon Islands at 6.31 pm on Wednesday, Beijing time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicentre was determined to be at 5.9 degrees south latitude and 155.1 degrees east longitude, Xinhua cited the centre as saying. No tsunami warning was issued, but the earthquake might cause problems in the nearby areas.
No casualties have been reported as yet. The epicentre is known to be 103 km below ground.
