A 26-year-old software engineer, working with the IT giant TCS, was shot down by four unidentified criminals in Noida’s Sector 76 on Monday evening. Police said that the engineer was attacked, when he was on his way to his residence at Sector 77 in a Fortuner car. He was admitted at the Kailash hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have registered a case and have sent the body for post-mortem.
The police suspect personal rivalry as the motive behind the killing but are investigating the matter from other angles too.
Police said that the incident took place around 6 pm when the one, Ankit Chauhan, was coming from his wife’s office, located at Sector 135, after dropping her. When his SUV reached the Sector 76 crossing, four men in a Honda Accord intercepted him. The occupants of the Accord opened fire for several rounds on Ankit, some of those piercing through his body. The assailants, after attacking him, fled from the spot.
The passers-by informed the police and he was taken to the ICU of the hospital, where he died within few minutes of treatment. Police, in their initial investigation, claimed that personal enmity could be a reason behind the murder. “We have registered a case and are investigating the matter. We are scanning the CCTV footage of the area and are questioning people also,” said RK Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Noida).
Police said that Ankit Chauhan, a permanent resident of Meerut district, had recently shifted to the Prateek Victoria Apartment in Noida’s Sector 77. He had married to Amisha Chauhan earlier in January.
