Sodomy attempt: Two traffic cops who are still on the run terminated, three others suspended

Three Delhi traffic policemen — including a zonal officer and two constables — have been placed under suspension, days after they were arrested on Sunday for allegedly trying to sodomise a 25-year-old man inside the Subzi Mandi traffic police office, said sources.

Two others, who are also traffic cops and are absconding, have been terminated.

On April 16 around 10 pm, the victim was going to his friend’s residence with the driver of his goods carrier. En route, a few traffic cops stopped him for driving during the ‘No Entry’ timing. The victim, a resident of Mangolpuri, gave the challan of Rs 2,100 and started making a video of other goods carriers who were openly flouting traffic rules but were not being challaned.

According to the victim, the cops became angry after he started shooting and forcibly took him to Subzi Mandi traffic police office, where three persons were consuming alcohol. When the victim’s driver intervened, he was allegedly thrown out of the room and the doors were locked from inside.

The victim told the cops that around five to six men beat him up brutally and tore off his clothes. After stripping him naked, they allegedly tried to sodomise him. In the meantime, the victim’s father and uncle reached there and all of them fled the spot.

Police registered a case under Sections 365, 341, 342, 323, 427, 377, 511 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at the Subzi Mandi police station.
