A suspected recording device was found inside the office of Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch chief MK Meena, days after his appointment amidst a face-off between the Delhi LG and CM Kejriwal.
According to sources, the spy device was a recorder disguised as a pen. It was spotted by Meena himself while cleaning his desk, they added. Soon after the discovery of the device, an investigation was initiated to ascertain whether it was deliberately planted there or left by mistake. However, initial inquiries suggest that the device contains no video or audio recording. Still, police are looking to ascertain any likely motive that might have led to the device being left behind in Meena’s office. Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung had appointed Meena after superseding Kejriwal’s hand-picked candidate for the post, SS Yadav. The AAP government had reacted sharply to the decision.
Shortly after his appointment, Meena was asked by Sukesh Kumar Jain, Secretary and Director
(Vigilance), to go back to Delhi Police as it was pointed out to him that no such post exists in Delhi ACB.
