Snatcher shoots self, after killing cop who gave chase

A 25-year-old snatcher shot himself dead after he opened fire at a police official who was chasing him on Monday afternoon. His accomplice is on the run.
The incident happened in the Narela area of outer Delhi. 'Kuldeep, along with an accomplice, snatched a gold chain from scooter-borne Ajit, near the Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital, and sped away on their motorcycle.
Ajit started shouting and hearing his cries, a Delhi police constable, Satendra, who was patrolling the area on his motorcycle, gave chasing to the snatchers,' said a police officer. 'Kuldeep shot at Satendra and fled from the scene,' the officer said.
A few meters away from the spot, they parked the motorcycle and entered into a Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flat.
In the meantime, more policemen were called and the flat was surrounded from all sides. Kuldeep came out of the house and shot himself dead.
According to the police Kuldeep has a previous criminal record. 'We are probing the matter and further investigations are on,’ said an official.
