Slight respite from cold in Kashmir

Residents of Kashmir experienced slight respite from harsh winter conditions as minimum night temperature stayed above freezing point in most places of the Valley for the first time in more than a week, even as the MeT office predicted wet weather for a few days from December 9.

Except the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, the Valley witnessed improvement in weather as temperature during the night stayed above freezing point for the first time since November 28, a MeT office spokesperson said.

Gulmarg registered a temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius as against the minimum of minus 0.6 degrees Celsius yesterday, he said.
