Skill development crucial in food processing: Food Secy

The government has made skill development in the food processing sector as one of its top priority and the Union Ministry for Food Processing Industries (MoFPI)  will soon provide incentives to industrial units that provide skills training.

 “The food processing  industry can be a hub for job generation and skill development as there is a huge potential in food processing. As per study conducted by National Skills Development Council (NSDC) , the estimated annual requirement from the food processing industry is more than Five lakh persons including one lakh in the organised sector’’ said <g data-gr-id="19">Ranglal</g> <g data-gr-id="20">Jamuda</g>, Secretary, MOFPI while inaugurating a Food HR Conclave organised by National Institute of Food Technolgy Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) here recently. 

“Ministry of Food Processing Industries is implementing a scheme for human resource development in the Indian food processing sector. The scheme focuses on developing technologists, managers, entrepreneurs and manpower for quality management in this segment. Under the scheme, assistance is provided for creation of infrastructure facilities.”” He added.
