According to police, the girl identified as Ritika went to play outside her house on Sunday evening at around 4 pm but failed to return. Finding that Ritika has been missing, a man-hunt was conducted by the family members but to no avail. They then approached the local police station and filed a complaint.
Her family stays on rent at the first floor of the building while the landlord, identified as Laxman Singh lives in the ground floor. After the girl went missing, the family alleged that Singh had killed their daughters as in the recent past, he was threatening them to vacate the house for not paying the rent on time.
On Monday morning, when the cover of the septic tank was removed, the body of Ritika was found inside it. Immediately a call to the police control room was made and a team reached the spot. “The team took the body of Ritika and rushed to a nearby hospital. The post-mortem was conducted and the reports are waited,” a police official privy to investigation said.
So far, police have ruled out murder possibility in the case but registered a case of negligence against Singh. During investigation, it was found that at the time of the incident, the septic tank was open due to which, Ritika might have fallen into it. Further investigation is underway, the police said.
