Six people, who posed themselves as CBI officials and made huge money by raiding several shops in the national capital, were arrested, police said on Wednesday.
The gang meticulously executed their plan of raiding shops and receiving money from shop owners on the pretext of settling their cases by going in a car with a red beacon, which cost them Rs 10,000 to install it.
Sudhansu Sukla, the main accused, Sounda Rajan, Charan Singh and Deshraj were arrested yesterday from Fatehpuri cloth market where they had gone to raid a shop posing as CBI officials.
The shop owner Kalpesh Barot told police that these four came to his shop and showed their identity cards and said they have to conduct raid in his shop. ‘One member forced the complainant to sit in a corner and the other one started checking account books, while another demanded Rs 2 lakh to settle the case. The matter was finally settled for Rs 20,000 which Barot gave to these four people,’ DCP (North District) Sindhu Pillau said.
