Two days after a senior Haryana IAS officer was sent on leave following charges of sexual assault, the Chandigarh Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations levelled against him by a Panchkula-based woman.
Formed on the directions of the Chandigarh IG RP Upadhyaya, the SIT will be headed by woman IPS officer, SP (Headquarters) Urvija Goel with members, including Assistant SP (East) GS Sidhu and SHO of Sector 19 police station Maninder Singh, under whose jurisdiction the woman had claimed that she was exploited by the IAS officer.
“The SIT has been asked to conduct a speedy probe, though no deadline has been fixed,” Maninder Singh said.
While a complaint against the IAS officer, SN Roy, has been filed by the woman, a counter-co mplaint has also been lodged by him, he said.
