He raised questions over admission process, shortage of teachers, electricity, water and other basic facilities in the schools.
In a letter written to the director of Delhi’s Education Department, Sisodia said that he has been receiving complaints from parents regarding the problems their children face in government schools. ‘You are requested to fix the loopholes in your department and ensure that people don’t have to run after officers and legislators to enrol their kids in school,’ Sisodia said.
He added that students are also facing problem in getting admission into the schools, especially in eleventh and ninth standard.
‘The schools are in a bad shape. Most of the schools don’t even have working fans. In such kind of weather, how do you expect a child to spend six to seven hours in schools’, he asked.
He also added that the work he assigned as the education department has still not been completed. ‘The condition of toilets is pathetic. While I was the minister, I had prepared a list of non-functioning toilets. Unfortunately, nothing has been done yet, the situation remains the same,’ he said.
