Sigh of relief: Clouds bring respite, push mercury down

Clouds hovering over the capital brought down temperatures providing the much-needed respite from the sultry heat on Tuesday. But Delhiites will have to wait a little more as the rain clouds are still to reach. According to weathermen, due to some unexpected changes in the weather conditions, rain in the city has been slightly delayed.
‘These clouds are medium and high clouds but rain-bearing lower clouds are stagnant in neighbouring areas of Delhi. It rained in south Haryana, Punjab and parts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. We expect the rain-bearing clouds to reach the city in the next 48 hours,’ said a senior officer Indian Meteorological Centre. ‘We had expected rain in the city on Tuesday but some changes in the wind movement have delayed it,’ he added.
The weathermen have predicted that rain would start in the next 24 hours and will continue till Monday. He also informed that monsoon is expected to arrive in the capital on its normal date of 29 June, however, a deviation of two to three days may occur.
The maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 32.8 degree Celsius which was 8.8 degree Celsius lower than Monday ‘s 41.6 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature on Tuesday was six degree Celsius below normal while minimum temperature was recorded at 29.2 degree Celsius which was one point above the normal. However, the maximum temperature is Gurgaon was recorded at 42.4 degree Celsius which was 9.6 degree Celsius more than Delhi’s maximum temperature.
Temperature in neighbouring Faridabad was 42.6 degree Celsius while Noida and Ghaziabad recorded 40.1 and 40.3 degree Celsius, respectively. The maximum and minimum humidity in Delhi was recorded at 73 and 52 per cent, respectively.
The weathermen expect rain and thunder showers on Wednesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 35 and 28 degree Celsius respectively.
