“It is Tughlakabad’s good luck that Ramesh Bidhuri was elected three times as its MLA. But unfortunately BJP could not come to power in Delhi. This time he has gone to the Lok Sabha and you have to elect his nephew, Vikram Bidhuri, and help BJP in forming the government in the national Capital,” said Sidhu during the road show.
He further said that he was confident that BJP was winning from this seat and would form the government in Delhi. What mattered the most was now the winning margin. Tughlakabad constituency is also known as a traditional BJP bastion, and as history reveals Ramesh Bidhuri was a
three-time winner since 2003.
The road show started from Harikesh Nagar and ended at Okhla Phase-I. As many as 8,000 people gathered at the road show including BJP party workers. Sidhu, along with BJP candidate Vikram Bidhuri, conducted the campaign in a jeep. While piling on the vehicle, the former cricketer delivered his speech and appealed the voters to elect Vikram.
He further added that despite BJP winning the Tughlakabad seat since 2003, it was both good and bad luck for the residents of the area. “Yaha ke niwaasio ke liye yeh saubhagya bhi hai aur durbhagya bhi,” he said. He then went on to explain that was good that since 2003, BJP had been winning this seat but then the Congress was the ruling party in Delhi. “We want a marginal win in Delhi this time,” he added.
Vikram Bidhuri also chalked out his plans for the constituency once elected to power. He said: “We will construct a 20 to 50 bed hospital in Tughlakabad. Foot-over bridges in Harkesh Nagar and Teharkhand on the lines of Kalkaji Extension will also be planned along with a community centre in Prahladpur ward.”
He also promised special arrangements for hawkers to do business in a proper manner without hindrances from the police or MCD officials. Construction of a higher secondary school at MB Road was also in the pipeline for which DDA has already allotted land.
