Two days after 32-year-old business consultant was killed after he was hit by a speeding Mercedes driven by a teenager near his residence in North Delhi’s Civil Lines, Sidhartha Sharma’s family took out a candlelight procession to raise their voice against the irreparable loss which they have suffered.
About 200 people had gathered near the Yamuna Road residence of Sidhartha to support the family.
Talking to Millennium Post, one of his relatives said: “Had the juvenile’s father not given him the car, Sidhartha would have been among us. I clearly remember the time we got a call from the hospital that Sidhartha had a major accident. The juvenile’s father was so arrogant. Even though he apologised for our loss, there was no sign of remorse on his face neither on his son,”
Divay, Sharma’s close friend said: “We have full faith in the justice system. The juvenile driver was apprehended and released as it is a bailable offence. His father, Manoj Aggrawal too was issued a challan. I saw and spoke to the juvenile. He had no ounce of remorse in his eyes. Even though he was saying sorry repeatedly, his father, a renowned businessman living in the neighbourhood was defending his son.”
According to a police officer: “The juvenile was apprehended as per the provisions of the law. His father was issued a challan under the Motor Vehicles Act. The investigation was conducted as per the law.”
