Siblings charred to death after cylinder blast in Jafrabad

A 19-year-old boy along with his 22-year-old sister was allegedly charred to death due to a cylinder
blast in their house in Jafrabad area of North-east Delhi on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Kamal and Geeta.
According to the fire department officials, they received a call at around 3.45 pm about a fire break out in a house.
Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. A senior fire official said the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Police rushed Kamal who died on the spot while Geeta succumbed to injuries later in a hospital.
Meanwhile, according to the police, the incident took place when fire broke out in the front portion of the house. An investigating officer said: “It is difficult to establish the cause of fire. It could be an electrical short circuit or a cylinder blast.
Moreover, the fire spread so quickly that it led to bursting of refrigerator compressor,”Police have registered a case under Sections 284 (Negligent conduct with respect to poisonous substance.) and 304 A (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at the Jafrabad police station.
