Shivarj Chouhan calls for social boycott of those disrespecting women

Terming rapists and molestors as demons with animal instincts, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday gave a call to socially boycott of those involved in disrespecting women.

Addressing a candle march by a large number of people including school children, teachers and public representatives to express solidarity with women, Chouhan said that ‘Those who rape and molest women are demons with an animal instinct’ and gave a call for their ‘social boycott’. On the occasion, Chouhan also administered an oath to the people to always come forward to protect women.

The chief minister assured the people that he will not allow disrespect of women in the state and also announced an award of Rs 1 lakh to those who protects the women’s honour.

Chouhan also highlighted steps being taken by his government against those indulge in crime against women, like preparing a database of offenders, cancellation of their driving licence, passports, depriving them of government jobs and government facilities. He also informed people that Madhya Pradesh has given a suggestion to the committee headed by retired Chief Justice of India Justice J S Varma that those committing rapes should be awarded capital punishment.
