Shining bright

MMTC’s flagship event Festival of Gold has made a comeback this festive season with its trademark dazzling display of hallmarked gold and certified stone-studded jewellery, silver jewellery, gold and silver medallions, and the latest range of Sanchi silverware.

The event was inaugurated by Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, on Tuesday and will continue till November 10 (excluding November 5th, 6th, and 7th) at Hotel Ashok, Chanakyapuri.

AK Bhalla, who lit the inaugural lamp and declared the Festival of Gold open, was accompanied by MMTC’s CMD Ved Prakash and directors of the company. The exhibition-cum-sale will be open to the public from October 28.

Since 1994, MMTC has been holding its annual exhibition-cum-sale of hallmarked jewellery, the Festival of Gold, which has become a widely popular event during the festive seasons across India.

The extensive display of craftsmanship from multiple states/regions of India alongside a wide array of value-added bullion products under a single roof is the USP of the event. The central theme here is purity and variety, and the objective is to offer quality jewellery and bullion products at affordable prices to the customers at large.

This year, the Festival of Gold is being conducted after a gap of two years. The 2015 edition thus marks the return of MMTC’s flagship gold event with a complete product range; ie. jewellery from all over India, medallions in 999 purity, and sterling silverware in 92.5 per cent purity. The grand exhibition is set to dazzle one and all with handpicked collections of jewellery from different states of India, like Delhi, Maharashtra, Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Goa.

There will be special focus on medallions in various denominations, which are an attractive investment option, and on Sanchi silverware items, which have been competitively priced and effectively fulfill the growing demand for gifting during Dhanteras and Diwali.  The Festival of Gold 2015 will be a step towards meeting MMTC’s objectives of expanding its long-standing precious metal retail business.

The company plans to enhance its retail base by opening new showrooms on pan-India basis and renewing focus on the retail marketing of its sterling silverware brand ‘Sanchi’, jewellery, and medallions.

MMTC also plans to hold talks with temple trusts and boards as part of the government’s effort to monetise gold whereby the deposited gold could be melted and minted into medallions by the company. MMTC has been a pioneer in bullion trade since having commenced operations in 1988, and is the first organization in India to have set up an assaying and hallmarking centre for quality testing and certification of jewellery duly accredited with BIS. The Company is the biggest brand in the precious metal sector and the only government of India enterprise in the jewellery sector.
