Shinde sorry for calling Jaya filmi

The new leader of the Lok Sabha and home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde still has a lot learn when it comes to helping manage the house. Replying to a debate on the Assam violence, the home minister was forced to apologise after he made an adverse remark to the Samajwadi Party member Bachchan.

Expressing unhappiness, Bachchan had interrupted Shinde's speech, saying that the minister was not responding to specific queries raised by members. To this, Shinde retorted, 'This is a serious matter. This is not the subject of a film.'

The home minister's remark triggered an uproar in the house. The leader of the opposition Arun Jaitley said that Bachchan was a distinguished celebrity and a member of the house and as home minister of India, Shinde should not have made an offensive remark to her. 'I will urge the home minister to make amends and withdraw the comments, so that the house can proceed,' said Jaitley.

While Shinde initially resisted making an apology, insisting that the Samajwadi Party member should not have interrupted when he was talking, he later apologised to her. 'If she is hurt by my comments, I apologise for that, as she is my sister,' said the home minister.
