Sheila shifts campaign to top gear, says Gujarat ‘model’ is divisive

Speaking at a well attended public meeting in north-west Delhi, Dikshit said, ‘The highest per capita income recorded by the Delhi was one shining example of our claim. The quality of life and infrastructure in the capital city is being praised all across the world, whereas large a number of people in Gujarat are still living without basic amenities.’

‘The city of Delhi can boast of having around 24 institutions of higher education, including six state level universities commissioned by Delhi government, during shortest possible time. The percentage of girls getting enrolled in the centres of higher education was much higher in Delhi than that in other states,’ said Dikshit.

Reaching out to the youth of the city, Dikshit said, ‘The government has entered into an agreement with Singapore government to set up a world class Skill Development Centre at Jaunapur which would make thousands of persons skilled in various employment oriented subjects. This would ensure a better future of youth.’

Dikshit in the past few public meeting has been going out of her way to woo the youth.

Talking about her government’s social sector schemes, the Congress leader, who is seeking a fourth term for her government, said, ‘Ours is a prosperous and developed state as we ensured rapid development along with prosperity.  We provide monthly pension of up to Rs 1,500 to the aged, widows and physically challenged persons. I wonder if any other state government is providing the similar amount.’

Taking on critics, Dikshit said, ‘The Congress government is caring and sharing. We at least do not propagate and promote hatred and division.’ Coming down on the local MLA from Kirari constituency, who is from the rival BJP, the chief minister said, ‘My government released an equal amount to all MLAs irrespective of their party affiliation. I wonder why Kirari remained neglected, my government would certainly remove this disparity.’

Before closing her address at the function, the chief minister did not forget to address her core constituency — the women.  ‘My government provided a reservation of 50 per cent seats in the civic bodies for women. We were the first to do this in the country.’

Dikshit called upon people to elect a government which works and added that her government was tested, tried and trusted and that people gave certificate to her government by electing it in 2003 and 2008.

‘We are still committed to develop all parts of the capital city uniformly,’ she said adding that the Congress was coming back to power despite lies being spread by the opposition parties like the BJP and AAP through manipulated opinion polls.
