Though she is yet to take a formal decision on her future but political pandits in the city have started to look at possible gains for the Congress party which touched it lowest tally in last Delhi assembly elections.
‘She has not taken the final decision on joining active politics. So I don’t want to answer any speculative question but the party will welcome it if she decides to,’ said Arvinder Singh Lovely, president of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC).
‘The party gets benefited even if a booth level worker joins the party, she had been one of our senior leaders and three time chief minister of Delhi,’ he added. Dikshit had been chief minister of Delhi for three consecutive times from 1998-2013 but lost badly in 2014 Delhi assembly election mainly due to development of a third political force in the city- the Aam Admi Party.
But according to political observers, the political vacuum created in the city after resignation of Arvind Kejriwal has made people want a tried and trusted leader.
