Sheila gets Rotary award for polio eradication

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was on Friday conferred an award by Rotary International for her government’s efforts to eradicate polio from the city.
The Polio Eradication Champion award was presented to Dikshit at a function by Bob Scott, chairman of International Polio Plus Committee of Rotary International.
Speaking on the occasion, Dikshit complimented tofficials of health department officials, doctors and para-medical staff for their hard work in eradicating the city of polio.
She said not a single case of polio had been reported in Delhi in the past three years.
The Polio Eradication Champion award, instituted in 1995, is the highest honour Rotary presents to heads of state, health agency leaders and others in recognition of their commitment to making the world polio-free.
