A magistrate’s court on Friday allowed former media baron Peter Mukerjea, arrested in connection with the Sheena Bora murder case, to get home food in Arthur Road prison, where he has been lodged.
“Permission is granted to provide home food to accused (Peter) in jail under proper supervision of jail superintendent,” Magistrate RV Adone said, while allowing the plea moved by Peter earlier this week through his lawyer Kushal Mor.
Peter had requested that he be allowed to get home food as he is a “senior citizen with heart ailments and is on medication to lower his cholesterol”.
Apart from the CBI, the jail officials had also opposed Peter’s plea saying they can provide less spicy and less oily food for Peter. Peter (59), husband of prime accused Indrani Mukerjea, was arrested on November 19 for his alleged role in the murder conspiracy and has been in CBI custody.
