Sharma wants green ministry and indirect tax board on eBiz portal

'Two departments which have not come on board are CBEC and Ministry of Environment and Forest. Environment and forest is important because we see delays that lead to weakening of our growth and also the cost of projects keeps on rising and exposure of financial institutions to various projects is also enormous.

'We are seeking to address that ... we are proposing to move to CCI very soon and we will get this resolved,' Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said while launching the portal.

'eBiz' will provide all business and investment related regulatory services across central, state and local governments on a single platform. He said that the eBiz project is one of the integrated mission mode projects under the National e-Governance Plan of the government.

'The project aims to improve India's ranking in ease of doing business...It has been a matter of concern that we were ranked very low,' Sharma said.

The portal would help in transforming the business environment in the country by providing transparent and integrated electronic services to investors in the areas of information on forms and procedures, licenses, permits, registrations, approvals, clearances, payments and compliances throughout the life-cycle of an industry or business entity. 'We are firmly committed to wide-ranging initiatives aimed at fostering the business environment in the country in a holistic manner. Our approach includes leveraging technology to bring transparency, improve efficiency and promote convenience,' he said.

'eBiz is an important step in this direction and we are pleased to work in partnership with Infosys on this project, which we hope will become a benchmark for successful PPPs,' he added.
