Sharma to lead Mumbai in Ranji Trophy

India batsman Rohit Sharma, who led Mumbai Indians to IPL and Champions League T20 titles this year, has been named skipper of Mumbai Ranji team for this season.

The declaration came after former India pacer Ajit Agarkar announced his retirement on Wednesday. However, Zaheer Khan will lead the side in the first match against Haryana that begins on 27 October at Lahli, Haryana. Rohit will be doing national duty against Australia in the ongoing ODI series at that time.

Sachin Tendulkar, who is retiring from Test cricket after playing his landmark 200th match against the West Indies next month, has also been picked in the 15-member squad against Haryana.
