Samajwadi Party is keeping in mind the 2017 state assembly polls and doesn’t want a debacle like this year’s Lok Sabha elections to them again. Even though the by-election result has been good for them, a veteran like party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav would not want to take chances this time. Bihar on the other hand goes for assembly polls in an year’s time in autumn of 2015.
JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Wednesday shared the dais with Mulayam Singh Yadav on the inaugural day of SP's national convention, fuelling speculation about their joining hands. Sharad Yadav said that he and Mulayam had always been ‘good friends’ and he had come to attend the convention on the SP supremo’s personal invitation. ‘We have been together since early days. The Constitution has been dealt a severe blow in the present conditions. We have to save it,’ the JD(U) leader told reporters in Lucknow at the start of the three-day convention.
Sharad Yadav, in his address called his bonding with Mulayam Singh Yadav ‘unbreakable’. He added, ‘Though Mualayam Singh and I am not related through blood, we are ones who will never part ways.’ Though Sharad Yadav refused to comment on a possible alliance with the SP, he had recently made it clear that he will make efforts to 'bring together all those who were part of old Janata Parivar to fight the new political challenge.’
Even though unsaid but their talks indicate that the duo are looking forward to create a non-Congress and non-BJP front. According to sources talks between them have already begun on understanding the pros and cons of their alliance. This indicates that soon we will surely be seeing a combine of Lalu-Nitish- Mulayam in the days to come said sources.
