Shame city: Gang of three throws girl from three-storey building

A class XI student was thrown down  from the top of a  three-storey building, allegedly after she tried to resist a rape attempt by three men who had also abducted her. None of the three accused have been arrested yet.

The incident took place late on Monday night in south-east Delhi’s Sunlight Colony. According to a police official, 'The victim, whose father works as a labourer, woke up at night and stepped out of the house to use the public toilet outside, when she was allegedly abducted by three men.'

An official said, ‘The three took the girl to a near-by building and threw her down from the top of the building. Residents of the building woke up when they heard the sound of her body hitting the ground. One of the residents made a call to the police control room, at approximately 1.30 am, and a team of officials was rushed to the spot.’

The victim, who was critically injured, was rushed  to the nearby Holy Family hospital where she is still undergoing treatment. Police has registered an attempt-to-murder case against the three accused, who are absconding.

However, the family of the victim has alleged that she was thrown off from the third floor, when she resisted an attempt by the accused to rape her. The victim’s mother, Sunita, said, 'The accused are known to us. They have harassed my daughter in the past and would pass lewd comments on her. We have also fought with them on this issue on several occasions and the accused had threatened to harm us.’

When the police was asked about the allegations made by the victim’s family, an official said, 'Investigations so far have not pointed to the possibility of a rape attempt or that the girl was thrown down while resisting any such attempt. But we are probing all possible angles and have registered an attempt to murder case against the accused. A manhunt is on to nab them.'
