Shah warns members against making provocative statements

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) top brass has sent out a strong-worded message, warning members against endorsing fringe elements within the party. Party chief Amit Shah has warned BJP's ideological affiliates, who are allegedly trying to vitiate the communal atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh. He said the BJP had nothing to do with the recent “provocative” statements made by Sadhvi Prachi and Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan.

On Tuesday, Sadhvi, a former Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader and BJP ideologue, stirred a hornet's nest by saying that she was working on getting the country rid of Muslims. “Now that we have achieved the mission of making a Congress-free India, it is time to make India Muslim-free. We are working on that,” she had said in Roorkee, where at least 32 people were injured last week in a clash between two communities over the forcible evacuation of a scrap dealer's shop.

Earlier, too, Sadhvi has voiced her views on 'love jihad' (an activity under which Muslim men are said to reportedly target girls belonging to non-Muslim communities for conversion to Islam by feigning love).”The Khans have conspired and lured Hindu girls, be it Sangeeta Bijlani (Md Azharuddin's former wife and alleged ex-girlfriend of Salman Khan), Malaika Arora (wife of Arbaaz Khan), Reena Dutt (Aamir Khan's ex-wife) or Kiran Rao (Aamir Khan's present wife).” Sadhvi told a TV channel.

Shah said, “The BJP has never agreed with whatever Sadhvi Prachi has said. We do not even endorse Sanjeev Balyan’s remarks on the Dadri controversy. This government of Samajwadi Party has failed to put a check on corruption. Our agenda is only the development of the state.”
