Shah asks Bihar, Bengal cadre to list poll issues in states

BJP president Amit Shah has asked Bhupendra Yadav, who was appointed as head of election management, to prepare a roadmap on several issues including scams which might disturb the ruling governments in West Bengal and Bihar.

Sources said Yadav along with the members of BJP’s Election Commission (EC) department including Rajendra Agarwal, Om Pathak, Ramakrishnan, Narendra Sawaikar and Rajan Khosla are working on an issue-based report, which might help the party to gain foot in these two states.

In-charge of West Bengal and Bihar elections Kailash Vijayvargiya and Ananth Kumar respectively
was also working with them in close co-ordination and also preparing a caste and religion based statistics of every district of Bengal and Bihar. It was learnt that apart from scams, they were also asked to prepare a report on people’s demands, which were not fulfilled by the respective state governments till now and which can help the BJP to target the opponents in the poll season.

Some of the points, which the members were asked to highlight for Bihar are deteriorating law and order situation, medical entrance scam, misuse of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and scams in the flood relief among others. <g data-gr-id="34">While</g> for West Bengal, the party is preparing an in-depth report on Primary Teacher Recruitment scam, issues based on unemployment, education and lack of basic health care facilities. Insider claimed that the move is to take these anti-government issues to the people across these two states and to convince them to vote for BJP.

However, in the midst of devious poll preparedness of the party, Shah on Thursday said that they are not in a mad rush to win elections but to win the heart of people across India.

While inaugurating the party’s “Maha Sampark Abhiyan” review meet for five states, including Maharashtra Gujarat and Goa at <g data-gr-id="24">Rangsharda</g> auditorium in suburban Bandra on Thursday, Shah said, “Our primary job is not to win elections but to train the new members about party’s ideology.”

He also took stock of the political situation in the states as well as assessed the progress of party’s “Maha Sampark Abhiyan”. Later, he met MPs, MLAs and <g data-gr-id="23">office bearers</g> of these states. The meeting comes after recent BJP workers’ meet bearers during the “Maha Sampark Abhiyan” of eastern zone states at Howrah in West Bengal.
