Sexual assault case is a political vendetta: Tejpal

‘There is no piece of evidence against me. Ask for CCTV footage,’ Tejpal told reporters while he was being escorted out of the high court premises on Tuesday after his bail plea was deferred till 4 March.

When the matter came up for hearing before Justice Mridula R Bhatkar on Tuesday morning, the defense sought adjournment till Friday saying their counsel Amit Desai will not be able to attend the case for some reason.

The judge, however, pointed out that the fact that the chargesheet was filed on Monday was not brought to the court’s notice.

In the view of changed circumstances, the court said that the hearing will be taken after two weeks while defense counsel filling in for Desai pleaded to post the hearing on Monday. Tejpal has been permitted to remain present in the court on the next date of hearing.
