Seven students severely hurt as truck rams into bus

In a tragic accident, seven students of Noida’s Army Public School were critically injured after a speeding truck rammed into their school bus on Thursday morning. The accident happened near the Sector 31-25 crossing. The injured are between the age of 6 and 14 years. The leg of one of the students had to be amputated to save his life.

According to Yogesh Singh, SP city, the incident took place at 7.25 am when the school bus carrying 37 students from Indirapuram, Ghaziabad was going towards the school in Sector 37. ‘The bus was crossing Sector 31-25 intersection when a speeding truck coming from Nithari village jumped the traffic signal and rammed into the bus and hit at the emergency gates. Two students identified as Naveen and Karan Singh were sitting there,’ Singh informed. A PCR van patrolling the area reached the spot to help the injured. It later rushed the injured to Kailash Hospital for treatment.

The students have been identified as Anurag (5), Aman (6), Harish (7), Tarun (7), Nirbhay (5), Karan Singh (12) and Naveen (14). Karan’s right leg was amputated as it was badly injured and doctors are trying to save his left leg which too is severely damaged.

‘Karan is still in a critical condition and he has been put on the ventilator whereas Harish and Naveen Yadav, who also had sustained severe injuries have been transferred to Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi for further treatment. Other victims have been discharged after the treatment as they had suffered minor injuries,’ VB Joshi, PRO, Kailash Hospital said.

 Meanwhile, Noida police have arrested the truck driver identified as Banwari and have seized the truck. He had come from Kota in Rajasthan to deliver marbles to a company in Noida. The school bus driver has registered an FIR against Banwari at Sector 24 police station.
