Seven including two juveniles in police net

Police have arrested seven persons including two juveniles in connection with the murder of three members of a family in Central Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar area.

The five accused have been identified as Rajan Singh, Rajendra Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Harender and Ram Kishore. One of the accused is still at large, police said.

However, police have not recovered any cash from the accused persons.

According to the police, on Sunday morning at around 9.52 am, Sanjay, his wife Jyoti and their son Pawan were found murdered in the third floor of their residence in Old Rajinder Nagar area and their house was found ransacked. While Pawan and Jyoti were discovered lying in Pawan’s room, Sanjay’s body was found in an adjacent room in a cupboard.

“We formed around 25 teams which consisted of around 200 policemen to investigate the case. Initially, we were looking at the angle of

Sanjay’s dispute with his brother. However, through local intelligence, we got a tip-off about the involvement of Rajan and other men and arrested them,” said Parmaditya, DCP (Central).

“Harender and Ram Kishore were arrested from Bulandshahr in UP while the others were arrested from Delhi,” police said.

“During interrogation, Rajan revealed that their main motive was robbery since Sanjay once mentioned to him that he has earned large amount of money through the sale of a property. They became friends in Tihar Jail where Sanjay was lodged for six months on charges of cheating and forgery in nine cases. Even after Sanjay was released, he and Rajan kept in touch,” the official said.

On Saturday night at around 8 pm, all the eight came to rob and with the intention to eliminate the family.

Five of them entered the house while two juveniles were ready on their motorcycle and one person kept guard at the main door.
