Septuagenarian among drug peddlers held

Two persons, including a 70-year-old man, was arrested here in separate cases of drug peddling with police on Sunday claiming that they have seized over 1.8 kg ganja from them.

70-year-old Lal Mohammed was apprehended from Ranjit Singh Marg area yesterday with 1.8 kg ganja, ACP [Central] Devesh Srivastava said.

During interrogation, Mohammed told police he is into drug peddling for the last three-four years and used to procure ganja from one Chander near New Delhi Railway Station, the DCP said. In another case, 35-year-old Shekhar was arrested with 36 gram ganja from Nabi Karim area yesterday on a tip-off, he said.

During interrogation, Shekhar told police he used to sell ganja in small quantities to drug addicts in and around Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place.

‘It was also found that to avoid being caught by the police, he was using small kids to supply the drugs at different destinations,’ Srivastava said.
