Security tightened for Modi’s oath gala

A three-tier security arrangement has been put in and around Rashtrapati Bhavan for the prime minister-designate Narendra Modi’s swearing -in ceremony to be held on 26 May.
The security has also been tightened for the SAARC leaders who have been invited to the ceremony which will be attended by around thousands of guests. ‘A multi-layered security ring will be thrown around Raisina Hills before the ceremony. Offices around Rashtrapati Bhavan will be shut at 1 pm and the swearing-in ceremony will take place at 6 pm,’ said a senior Delhi police official.
All the roads leading to Rashtrapati Bhavan will be closed for the general public between 4pm and 8pm.
Heavy deployment of traffic personnel and Delhi policemen has been ensured at every intersection in central Delhi on Monday. As a part of the security measures, no vehicle will be allowed to ply on Vijay Chowk, South Avenue, North Avenue, Church Road and Dalhousie Road from 4pm. No parking will be allowed in these areas as well. These roads will be remain close from 4 pm to 8 pm on Monday.
The traffic diversions will be in placed at Rail Bhavan, Pandit Pant Marg at Talkatora roundabout, K Kamraj Marg near RP Bhawan, Motilal Nehru Marg near Udyog Bhawan and other adjacent roads of the area.
