Security beefed up in Ggn till Republic Day

In view of the terror attack on Pathankot Air Force base, security was beefed up in Gurgaon. More than 200 cops have been posted at various spots across the city, including defence establishments since the weekend. PCR vans were posted outside Gurgaon’s defence establishments soon after the attacks in Pathankot were announced, sources said.
According to the information received from the Gurgaon Police department, police deployment has been augmented at crowded places, market areas, shopping malls, railway stations, metro stations and bus stands.Â
Bomb disposal squad, dog squad and Quick Reaction Teams have also been put on alert till Republic Day. Although Commissioner of Police Navdeep Singh Virk refused to divulge details, sources said security has been tightened around CRPF training camp in Bhondsi, CRPF Academy in Kadarpur, Air Force station on Sohna Road and National Security Guard in Manesar.
Besides the defence establishments, the police department have also tightened security at all malls and sensitized hotel staff and instructed them to hire private security guards if needed. Sources said that 230 cops have been deployed in areas with heavy footfall, including Sheetla Mata temple and Sadar Bazar in order to maintain security. Cops have been instructed to remain at their new posts till January 26.Â
Police patrolling has been increased on MG Road and check posts will be active every night till Republic Day.Â
