Second Airport in NCR soon

Union Minister Mahesh Sharma on Monday confirmed that the government had taken a decision to set up a second airport in the national Capital region. Replying to an unstarred question in Lok Sabha he gave the information also rendering the details, present status as well as the location of the new airports. Sharma told reporters, “Currently the Delhi airport has a lot of load on it, so there is a need to have another airport in the national Capital region.”
Explaining the details of the proposed new airports he said in his reply in Parliament, “Setting up of Greenfield Airport at Kotkasim Tehsil in Alwar district, Rajasthan : Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd. had submitted a proposal for grant of ‘site clearance’ for setting up of greenfield airport (for providing both passenger and cargo services) here.
The Steering Committee on Greenfield airports considered the proposal and recommended to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for grant of ‘site clearance’ to the project. Also the setting up of Cargo airport in Rohtak district of Haryana: Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (HSIIDC) had submitted a proposal for setting up of a Cargo airport here. The Steering Committee considered the proposal and advised HSIIDC to revise the proposal for <g data-gr-id="19">full-fledged</g> commercial airport in place of Cargo airport. The airport developer has not submitted the revised proposal.”
