SDMC to give post cards to students to pen down problems

South Delhi Municipal Corporation is going to start a feedback programme for its primary students in which the children would be provided post cards to write directly to the chairman of the education committee their grievances.
‘In my recent visit to some schools, I encouraged the students to speak about the problems they face in schools. Their inputs were very informative to asses the ground realities,’ said Satish Upadhayay, chairman of the education committee in South DMC.

He further added the behaviour of teachers and degree of involvement of students in the learning process could not be assessed without involving students feedback. He also added that at some places teachers were found to be asking the students to do their personal works or clean the floors which is strongly restricted. ‘The programme will also enhance their writing skills,’ Upadhyay added.

According to senior officers of the education department, the programme to get feedback from students is being introduced after several councilors complained about unattended students in the primary schools of the corporation.
South DMC runs 588 schools among which 171 are boys schools, 169 are girls schools and 248 are co-ed schools. Around four lakh students are enrolled in these schools.
