SDMC seeks amendments in DDA master plan

South MCD has submitted a representation to Balvinder Kumar, Vice Chairman of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to make appropriate amendments in the master plan to allow development activities and sanctioning of building plans in the urbanised villages of the city.

“VC DDA has given assurance that special provisions will be made to give relief to these villages,” said Radhey Shyam Sharma, leader of the House in South DMC. After this rectification, the 79 urbanised villages which came under the jurisdiction of South DMC will benefit.

“The people of these villages could get their buildings’ maps approved and the civic body could use funds for the development of these villages,” he added.

He said in Delhi as many as 371 villages are there out of which 236 are under rural category while 135 are categorised as urban villages. At the time of notification of these urbanised villages in the British era, no provision of master plan was there in getting their building plan sanctioned. Sharma further said a proposal to this effect was also presented to the Standing Committee that would provide benefits to 39 city based villages.
