SDMC revenue collection soars to Rs 5.60 crore

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s (SDMC) revenue collection has shot up dramatically after the implementation of the new online General Trade Licence Policy.

The Corporation has collected Rs 5.60 crore during the first quarter of 2016-17 against Rs 2.63 crore during 2015-16. The Central Zone is on the top with Rs 2.38 Crore,  while South Zone has ranked second with Rs 1.68 crore.

Officials said the implementation of the policy had proved beneficial to the SDMC, besides offering a hassle-free process to traders. With the new policy in place, the civic body aims to increase its revenue manyfold during this fiscal.

“The new simplified general trade/storage licence policy 2015 is a transparent mechanism, which is online, citizen-centric and ICT-enabled to benefit traders. With this policy in place, traders can get a licence with a simple click of the mouse. The process for granting licence is also through SMS and email,” said an official.

He added after consultation between all stakeholders, the policy would be further simplified. In order to streamline the process of recording trade licences and ensure transparency, all applicants shall get an electronically generated licence under the Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) Act.

They will get the licence only after paying the required amount and submitting their application forms, along with requisite documents – self-declaration/undertaking.
