SDMC moves to make life simpler for citizens

The standing committee chairman of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) Satender Prakash Chaudhary on Wednesday announced the decision to start online registration of schools, booking of farmhouses, mutation and refund of amount for booking of community halls within 15 days.

‘The introduction of e-governance will bring transparency in the system,’ said Choudhary finalising the budget for the year 2014-15. The chairman also announced to roll back tax hikes proposed by the commissioner in his budget for the year 2014-15. ‘We withdraw the increased property tax proposals in different categories as it does not include big commercial centres such as malls and district centres,’ said Chaudhary. He said SDMC will form resident welfare committees (RWC) in every ward for better administration, under which councillor fund will be utilised for the development work. He also formally sent a letter to Delhi government demanding powers to regularise contractual workers.

Chaudhary said that to strengthen the sanitation infrastructure, ‘We have to make changes in the entire sanitation system. For door-to-door garbage collection, management of parks, uplift of building debris and other related activities, we have made budgetary provisions. The number of auto tippers will be increased in every ward and we will also provide uniform to the employees of class IV.’ He said that to help citizens, there is a proposal to simplify farmhouse booking, proposed trade license policy and school registration system.
