SDMC collects over Rs 30 lakh as fine in anti-littering drive

In a special drive against public littering, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has collected over Rs 30 lakh as fine in last two weeks.
The fine was collected from individuals, associations and government agencies.
‘SDMC has adopted zero tolerance policy towards sanitation and disposal of waste in its zones,’ said
Manish Gupta, commissioner of SDMC while adding that the drive will continue. The maximum of 1,329 challans were served in south Delhi area which fetched Rs 10.24 lakh to the corporation.
Gupta also informed that the corporation is also going to start a special drive titled ‘Clean & Green Delhi’ from 25 September to 2 October. ‘During this drive we will focus on the cleaning of dumping zones, vacant lands and plots and parks.’
The corporation will also launch a special awareness campaign in every ward for creating awareness among citizens.
