Scuffle at Rohini Court after lawyer tries to enter with blade

A scuffle broke out between Delhi Police officials and a group of lawyers over a trivial issue in Rohini Court on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place when a practicing lawyer Gaurav Suneja tried to enter the court premises wearing casuals from the entry for general public. But the police personnel posted at that gate stopped him and refused his entry as he was carrying a blade in his pocket. Despite Suneja’s several attempts to get an entry after revealing his identity as a laywer, the cop refused to let him in. Suneja allegedly made calls to his colleagues who gathered at the spot and started abusing the security personnels. Few minutes later, they attacked him. To maintain law and order situation, Prashant Vihar SHO and ACP reached the spot.

“The lawyers were on an attacking spree and it became impossible to control them until senior officials with huge police force intervened. Meanwhile, Suneja was taken for verification where it was found out that he was a lawyer. Some people were also taken to the hospital with very minor injuries,” said the official.

Meanwhile, Rajiv Tehlan, Honorary Secretary of Rohini Court Bar Association said: “They have called for a complete strike on Thursday against the brutal attack on the advocates by police officials at the court with the demand of immediate registration of FIR against erring police officials.”
