Scribe killing: UP police to probe case

The UP government on Wednesday handed over probe into the killing of a journalist allegedly by
minister Ram Murti Verma and five others over Facebook post to the state police.
"The probe into alleged killing of journalist Jagendra Singh by minister and five others in Shahjahanpur has been handed over to DIG, Bareilly range," IG Law and Order A Satish Ganesh said.
Verma, along with five others, were on Tuesday booked in connection with the case.
A team of Shahjahanpur circle officer, city Krishna Gopal Yadav and inspector Sadar Bazar JP Tiwari has also been constituted to probe the matter, he said, adding that a team of forensic experts have also been sent from Lucknow to assist them, he said.
"The statement given by the journalist at district hospital to magistrate will also be made available to the police after the permission of court," he said. Agencies
