Scrap dealer looks after lost boy for 2 years

A 12-year-old boy who went missing from his home two years ago was reunited with his family on Monday in Malaviya Nagar area of south district.

Aamir Khan, son of a labourer in Savitri Nagar, went missing when he was 10 years old.

'The boy was not kidnapped. He wandered by himself and then could not find his way back home,' said a senior police officer.

Khan had been staying with a 27-year-old scrap dealer, Azad, in Gurgaon for the last two years. Azad had not only provided shelter to the Khan, but had also tried to find his family. His search became successful only after two long years.

On Monday, Azad approached the Malaviya Nagar police and informed them about Khan and that the boy had told him that he lived somewhere near Chirag Delhi.

The police immediately swung into action and managed to make connection between Khan and the missing child case of 2010. Subsequently, his parents were called and the child was reunited with his family, the official added.

According to his statement to the police, on the day Khan went missing, he took a bus without knowing where to go. He reached Gurgaon where he met Azad and who took him to his house.

When Azad asked Aamir about his home, all he could recall was that he lived near a drain. Azad searched every drain in Gurgaon, but could not find Khan's family.

On Monday, when Khan heard someone mention Chirag Delhi, he told Azad that he lived near Chirag Delhi. On hearing this, Azad contacted the Malaviya Nagar police.
