Are you going to make any changes to the existing nursery admission process?
No, in fact, Lieutenant-Governor has recently issued  adequate and most suitable admission guidelines. Now the government’s duty is to implement them strictly in all schools. If Directorate of Education fails to implement them, I will personally listen to the parents’ grievances. Now, we have launched an education helpline number too.

Private school owners have invested with motive of profit. Don’t you think, government is interfering in their autonomy?

School education is not a matter of profit making because private schools are created on the lines of a charitable trust and are not being run by multinational companies. The basic motive of education in our country is charity and social upliftment.

The Shiela government had decided to give reservation to Delhi domiciles in DU. What was your stand on this move?
It was announced before assembly election by the Congress government and it has not been implemented by them. To implement it now, we have to work in tandem with Delhi University and the Ministry of Human Resources Development.

What is your agenda for the city in terms of infrastructure development?
Delhi is the capital and its development should not be stopped at any cost. The city must provide a sense of security to every citizen and all basic amenities must reach everyone here.
