Schoolboy run over by DTC bus, protesters turn violent

A 14-year-old student was Tuesday run over by a Delhi Transport Corporation bus while he was returning from school, said police. An angry mob later vandalised 10 buses.
The accident took place at Govindpuri in south Delhi around 1.30 pm.

‘Soon after the incident the crowd that includes the passenger of the bus and few students of the school got violent and broke the glasses of 16
buses. They have pelted stones on the buses and tried to torch the DTC buses. Appropriate legal actions is being taken,’ P Karunakaran deputy commissioner of police (south-east) said.

The Class 9 student, identified as Sagar, was returning from school when the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus hit him near Majeedia hospital, said police. Sagar was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Angry over the accident, a mob, comprising mostly school students, damaged 10 DTC buses and blocked the road for an hour. Police later managed to defuse the situation.
